We searched for papers published between 2010 and September 20, 2019 using “psychiatric department,” “ward culture,” and “ward climate” as keywords, and conducted a literature review. Having compared and examined the purpose, subjects, and methods of the nine papers identified, we found that many of them were based on interviews with nurses and investigated how ward culture and ward climate influenced their nursing care. Such research has therefore tended to focus on nurses, making it poorly balanced in terms of study method.
