ヘドリー・ブルにおけるホッブズの国際関係論 The International Theory of Thomas Hobbes : Interpreted by Hedley Bull 大平, 道広 Ohira, Michihiro Hobbes Bull The English School International theory Realism application/pdf This essay aims to understand Thomas Hobbes’ international theory more clearly by referring to the interpretation of Hobbes by Hedley Bull (1932-1985), who is an influential British political scientist today. It should be noted that Bull derives an international theory based on realpolitik from Hobbes’ political thought. As Bull points out, Hobbes regarded the nation states as political entities that have neither common power nor common rule, thus far from reaching peaceful coexistence. From this premise, Bull tries to demonstrate that Hobbesian nation states will have to compete with each other to secure their self-preservation in international politics.
