In this study, electrode paste for DEFC was prepared with/without methanol addition. Then the current and the power density of the cells were measured to fmd the optimum amount of methanol for the mixing process. The microstructures of mixed pastes were also observed by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. It was found that addition of 45 % methanol into the paste components yielded the best power density and current. The good performance was due to the fact that SiO2 was evenly distributed in the paste when 45 % methanol was mixed.
