From a pedagogical point of view, “naive concept” is generally conceived as a misconception formed by erroneous understandings about scientific matters long accumulated from the early stages of education. Critical lacks in logical consistency are typically observed in students with naive concept, thus adversely hindering their acquisition of university-level expertise such as advanced engineering and applied science. This situation needs to be therefore ameliorated at the earliest stages of their careers. We here illustrate a practical case report as to naive concept in the Department of Applied Chemistry, Kanagawa Institute of Technology (KAIT), Kanagawa, Japan, paving the way for future educational developments. |
