| 内容記述 | The Wuhan operation had started before Cherepanov arrived. In this operation, the Japanese army adopted a "ram" tactic, possessing insufficinet numerical strength for such a country as China, but enjoying tremendous superiority in armament and equipment. In the course of the offensive against Wuhan, the Japanese army concentrated artillery, tanks, and air forces on the main operational section of the front, broke through Chinese defences, and drove a wedge deep into Chinese territory. The strategic plan of the Japanese army in the war against China was described as quick war and quick victory: it envisaged the capture of Shanghai within a week, North China in am onth and all of China in three months. The Chinese command's strategic plan was geared to a long-term war. | |||||||||
