Until not so long ago, it was unthinkable that a student graduating from a technical high school would seek to enter a university. However, over the past few years the proportion of students coming from technical high schools and now gaining admission into the Faculties of Engineering has been steadily growing. In this report, we illustrate a High School / University collaboration, something rarely seen in this country, through the example of collaboration in Kanagawa Prefecture between technical high schools and the Faculties of Engineering. The focus is on a summer school designed to offer students the full university experience by having them attend lectures and sample student life. |
