This paper describes algorithms for parallel computing of sequential type of image processing. As an example of sequential type of image processing, the process of following line elements on images are discussed and the two parallel algorithms are proposed. The algorithm A is that the raster scanning process and the process of following line elements are executed separately with different processing elements. The other algorithm, algorithm B, is that the data array of the image is divided into several blocks and the data in each block are processed concurrently. The experimental results show the algorithm A does not reduce processing time because of overhead related to data transmission among processing elements. The algorithm B shows the effect of parallel processing. |
